Those plague like schools are yet to appear along the metro coast in any big way however there have been reports of large numbers of schooling fish spotted by workers on the Fremantle Warfs. Stray fish have been caught by anglers fishing the north and south moles as well as the woodman point ammunition jetty and similar jettys in that area. Shore based anglers in Rockingham and down towards Mandurah have found the odd fish off the beach but again the huge numbers we have come to associate with the annual Salmon run are yet to be truly seen in the metro area. Usually Easter is the marker for anglers to expect the bulk of the run and with Easter being only a month away, it could not be too much longer before the fish hit the metro area in a big way.
Numbers of fish have been showing up around the Geographe area for multiple weeks now however only in the last couple of days have the plague schools we have come to know started to appear in this area. Anglers in Dunsborough, Busselton, Broadwater and Margaret River have all had a solid piece of the action from both the shore and boats this past week. If you’re planning a trip south to chase these fish then one of these destinations will be a good place to start.
The resident fish around Hamelin Bay, Esperance and Albany have provided anglers with as much fun as the locals down there have come to expect this time of year.
Everything is shaping up to be one of, if not, the biggest season yet.
