After cyclone Laurence, a cold green current of water was noticed along the north Ningaloo waters. However, Mother Nature is a wonderful thing and outside temperatures in the high 40s this last week have helped bring the water temperatures back up to encourage the fish to feed.

In the deeper waters dolphin fish have been prevalent along with the odd black marlin. Big blue marlin tend to show up at this time of year and the sailfish are still playing around in the gulf. according to one angler in a tinny off Bundegi reef. Young Riley Smith and his family from Auto Pro enjoyed the Christmas break and got out amongst the billfish action. Riley caught his first sailfish only to be followed by another on the next trip out; what a great start to his fishing year with the Exmouth Game Fishing Club.

The shore fishing has been challenging with the high temperatures lately, but that hasn't stopped the spangled emperor and bluebone biting, nor the mudcrabs showing up in the mangroves.  Summer is a great time for night fishing from the shoreline, with many locals camping out while there are fewer tourists about.

The Tantabiddi Camp out was postponed from Saturday the 9th to Saturday the 16th due to strong winds forecast.  There are adult and junior prizes for most species caught and released (shore based) with photos. heaviest mackerel, longest spangled emperor, most tagged sailfish and most tagged marlin.

All fish brought in must be in edible condition. Booking are essential for catering. Local business Exmouth Tackle and Camping Supplies is providing over $2000 worth of prizes. Fishing is Saturday only with a BBQ at Tantabiddi that night, with everybody camping there overnight and a breakfast the next morning with presentation of prizes.
