Paul Wright is up here for another month with his car, caravan and tinny. He headed out off Neds Camp through South Passage on a flat calm day. There were humpback whales and calves heading south, and in between dodging the mega fauna, his female counterpart boated swag of fish. In the fiery fishing session she landed a 1.2m spanish mackerel, a 70cm coral trout and a 60cm spangled emperor on a red and white Halco 190XDD Crazy Deep lure. Paul’s not sure if he will take his lady out again as she showed him up big-time!
Lars Olsen and Adam Meadows are up here on their annual fishing holiday, and started their two weeks off with a flying start. On their first day out aboard local boat Sugar Daddy, they headed off out into the Gulf, resulting in a sailfish for Lars, with several more sails escaping the tag pole before the day was over. The boys are hoping this is just the start to another great Exmouth fishing trip.
The marina is starting to heat up, with reports of cod and mangrove jack being caught and quite a few reports of bigger fish gaining their freedom on the sharp rocks. There are still enough yellowfin bream inside to keep the kids occupied, just please check the sizes of the bream if your chasing a feed, as there are a lot of undersized ones still growing up in the marina.

Jeni Gates from Bluewater Tackle World Exmouth, about to release one of the local queenfish.
The west side beach fishing has produced cod, spangled emperor, bluebone, dart, trevally and queenfish. Lures have been the most successful, with soft plastics and shallow diving minnows catching slightly more fish than poppers and metal slices.
Marlin fishing off Tantabiddi has been a little quiet, with only a handful of fish reported but heaps of tuna and wahoo have been caught while trolling these grounds.
