Rosanne and Bob from NSW have been staying at the Lighthouse Caravan Park, and fishing the areas within walking distance of the park. The couple have landed several spangled emperor and a few big chinaman fish. The two have been only keeping enough for a fresh meal each day and enjoying the fishing for the rest of the time by catching and carefully releasing. They did ask to mention that they miss Kevin Cottrell, who hasn't been getting into the action as much lately.
Robin Van Staden was also fishing from the shore near the lighthouse when he hooked a 90cm chinaman fish. This one was caught with a whole pilchard bait and Robin was using 30lb line. It sounds like the chinaman fish are showing up lot of late.

Pictured this week is Taila Jackson with an eight kilo chinaman that was 75cm long. Taila played the fish for almost half an hour, before Dad had to help land it in the boat.
Brett and Ed on the 21ft Yalta called Waydeep were trolling the gap between the Muirons, with a Halco red head 2m lure. The lures were in the water just five minutes when a 15kg spanish mackerel attacked the lure. They landed the fish successfully, and then headed out to reef fish, catching red emperor, spanglies and rankin cod using squid bait.
There are some big fishing names in Exmouth this week. Paul Worsteling is filming with the IFISH television program, while Dean Butler is out chasing billfish on fly. There are about 20-odd boats up here for the Fishwrecked competition, and following that Peter Morse will be returning yet again with the Bonehead fishing group. It's great to see Exmouth attract such sporting anglers that are conservation minded, with intent on filling photo albums, not coolers.
