Rob Pulliam from the Solar Observatory has been out chasing all sorts of species for fun in his Boston Whaler with a few of the work crew. On the west side they have caught good sized Spanish mackerel. In the gulf they hooked plenty of bluebone and coral trout - a few of which came home for dinner. They also had a fresh feed of lobster from the gulf and encountered a few sharks along the way.

The Exmouth Game Fishing Club would like to acknowledge and thank the Gascoyne Development Commission (GDC) for their support with funding towards the purchase of crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment for future functions and events. Thanks to this recent purchase, future EGFC events will be more professional, more economical and far more environmentally friendly.

The State Government, through the Department of Sport and Recreation and Lotterywest is also a major sponsor of EGFC and GAMEX 2009. Sport and recreation builds stronger, healthier, happier and safer communities. The EGFC is grateful for the support from these organisations, as well as the many local businesses that make Gamex 2009 happen.

Anglers Leigh Freestone and Mace Boyer have just arrived from Melbourne for a fishing trip. The two guys came in to the shop to ask where to target billfish, as they had never caught one. The staff advised them to try the waters off Helby Bank in about 50-80m. They rigged up some Soft Oscar lures and headed out in their 5.2m centre console. They boys came back in the next afternoon with gleaming faces after catching their first marlin. Yet another great start to fishing in Exmouth for a visitor.

Peter Pakula, renowned lure maker, will be in Exmouth from March 20 - April 11 for Gamex and to have a holiday to target billfish using some of his new range of lures. Peter will be in the Bluewater Tackle World store in the days leading up to the event to assist and advise anglers with their rigging up for Gamex. Peter will also be assisting with the rigging night on Friday March 27. Anyone is welcome to come along to the rec centre and watch as some of the state's top skippers and anglers showcase their skills on rigging baits and gear for game fishing.
