There was not much to report on fishing this last week with cyclone Nicholas hampering efforts by everyone. However this week’s report is a good opportunity to inform you of the upcoming major event in Exmouth: GAMEX.

A busy time at Gamex 2007
Gamex is Western Australia's premiere game fishing event, with over 50 boats and 200 anglers participating last year. Numbers are expected to be high again and preparations are underway for this major event. On Friday the 7th of March we will be holding a special rigging session at the Rec centre from 6pm. Special guest and well known journalist and deckhand, Dean Butler, will be attending and offering his advice for rigging baits, teasers, reels etc. ANYone is welcome to come down. You do not need to be a member or be a competitor. There will be members there willing to assist with ideas on rigging up lures, where to set teasers, how to tag billfish, methods for handling big fish, tips on fish preservation and general fishing.
Please register your interest for this with Jeni on 9949 1315, so we know how many people to expect. This year the briefing will be held at the Shire Hall from 7pm on Saturday the 8th of March. Boats will be given information, team bags and the opportunity to mingle with other competitors over drinks and a few nibblies.
Fishing commences on the Sunday at 8am and fishing times for the six days can be found on the Gamex brochure. Weigh-ins and presentation of tag cards are to be held at the Rec centre from Sunday to Friday between the hours of 6-9pm, except Tuesday, which is 5-6pm, followed by the Pizza Pasta night at Princes' shed. There will be a free bus for people attending the Tuesday night and further details can be obtained from Bluewater Tackle World Exmouth.
The debrief bacon and egg breakfast will be held at the Rec centre on Saturday 15th at 10am. This is to discuss positives and negatives and ideas for 2009. Once again, everybody is welcome. The presentation night will be held at the Potshot Hotel on the 15th of March. During the week at the rec centre there will be a professional MC to keep everyone informed and entertained along with interesting raffles, food available with the burger van and drinks available over the bar. See you all there!
