Snapper is the main game in town at the moment. Early indications are that Cockburn Sound is beginning to fire, and this week’s storm should really fire them up. Tim and Dave from Bluewater Scarborough went out for a soft plastic session on Sunday morning before work. Tim continued his dream run with five snapper in five casts, biggest going 84cm. Dave was not happy! Tim’s son, Ian learnt a whole heap of new words from him. Just to show that Tim doesn’t always have it his way, he went back out Monday morning hoping for a repeat and got smashed six times for no result. That’s why it is called fishing, not catching.

There is simply no better reason to get out of bed early!! Here at Bluewater we understand.
Tyson from Bluewater Scarborough had a good day out on the weekend taking his new boat out for a run. Berleying up early in the morning led to a number of pink snapper, samsons and numerous break offs on larger fish with 7’’ Gulp Jerk Shads being the choice of lure for the day. To top it off Tyson and his mates also caught a few squid later on. A great way to spend father’s day!
Damien and Paul Cestrilli had a good day out on Gabriel Gomez’s boat “Game Time” on the weekend finishing up with a mix of both demersal and pelagic species. Bottom fishing in around 40m of water west of Hillarys, Paul landed a decent jewfish of 12kg and backed it up with another jewfish of around five kilos and a nice sized breaksea cod. The boys also trolled up a few bluefin tuna on the way home to finish off the day.

12 kilos of jewfish and one happy camper!
Tailor remain very active off the northern beaches with 60cm specimens a regular occurrence at places like Wilbinga and Two Rocks. These have been taken mainly on bait, however some anglers report success with surface stick-baits and poppers.
Skippy are still a good option from shore with some better ones falling to those casting small lightly weighted soft plastics at the local marinas.

Che Carson is all smiles after a tussle with this lovely gold spot trevally
The weather over the week has been fantastic for those fishing offshore with good bags recorded. Jewfish of 15kg and bigger have been a fairly common occurrence offshore this week with the commonality being 40m of water.
Wally Parkin fished with Brad Wood out towards Rottnest Island and boated a nice 10kg jewfish while four regular customers at Mindarie reported similar and bigger fish towards direction bank.

The best way to release these toothy critters is to grab something sharp and cut the trace.
Regular customer George “the coffee man” and his son Jayden experienced a red hot bite on pink snapper out in 200m of water off Rottnest last weekend – with over forty pinkies landed between 45-75cm - an extremely hot bite.

Herring are still active all over the metro area and skippy are thick around the Three Mile Reef. The northern reefs are still clear of the silt from the harbour dredging, but who knows how long that will last? Morley customers report that Success Bank and areas adjacent are just milky soup. We shall see what effects this has on the mulloway season in the river.
Bream are still active in the Swan and Canning Rivers for those in the know. The Bassendean & Guildford area is still holding some good late season fish with the majority of fish falling to 2’ Berkley Powerbait Powergrubs.

Moore River has broken and water levels are very low – good fish have been encountered for those working shallow diving minnows around the mouth.
The opening of the freshwater season has also caused a stir this week with some great trout reported. Bluewater Scarborough regular customer Stephan reports a trout of over two kilos coming from Harvey Dam, and various other good results.

Paul from Bluewater Melville would like to sincerely appologise for the incorrect times posted in recent newsletters for the iFish TV series. We do however have it on good authority that there is an episode on this Sunday on One HD at 2.30pm Perth local time.
