Bluewater Tackle World News for February 5th

Reel Teaser Charters have an outstanding offer which they've asked us to pass on to our newsletter readers. The group they

had booked for their 'relocation' trip from Exmouth back to Broome in April, has had to pull out, so due to the short notice Ross and Tracey have offered it to our customers for AU$5000 instead of the usual $10000.

Perth anglers can fly to Exmouth on Skywest, and then back from Broome on either Skywest or Qantas.

It's ten full days of fishing, 11 nights on board, departing Exmouth Monday April 6th at 6am and arriving in Broome on the morning of Thursday April 16th. It's a maximum of six anglers on board the roomy 65' Westcoaster, and individual enquiries will be taken.

Phone Tracey to register your interest on 0438 930 319, or for further info about the trip email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . The website is www.reelteasercharters.com .

Locations to be fished on this trip include Exmouth of course, the Monte Bellos Islands, and the Rowley Shoals.

Here’s this weekend's Sunday Times fishing news, with a bit of extra stuff...

PERTH METROPOLITAN

Southern bluefin tuna caused heaps of excitement for offshore anglers, Joff Weston and Johari Rochfort mixing it with them at the back of the Three Mile, casting metal spinners at the schools, Tony Ong among the first to alert others to the presence of the active fish. The tuna were also reported from near Rottnest waters. Bluewater Tackle World Morley’s Peter Birch was another to boat a southern bluefin tuna, his fish coming from about 2k off North Beach, after spotting baitfish being harassed nearby.

Ewan Buckley and Will Maxwell came across a large school of tailor about 15nm out from Hillarys, a mako shark hanging around underneath the tailor, the lads pulling a few fish from the school. Tony Vine caught an 18kg jewfish while fishing with his mate Brad.

Boaties after smaller species should try just offshore from City Beach/Floreat, where excellent whiting were caught, smaller whiting available for shore fishers. Skippy fishing proved a winner at the Five Fathom Bank, a few pink snapper there also, many well undersized pinkies about the place.

Marina and rock wall fishing is patchy, herring, tarwhine and a few whiting about for those prepared to put in the time. Small samson fish made for exciting light line angling off North Mole. Yellowtail are prominent at E Shed. South of Fremantle beaches are working better in the evenings for tailor, some chop on the water boosting catches. Bull herring came from Challenger Beach, Woodman Point, Coogee Jetty and the Ammunition Jetty, some juvenile salmon in the same water. Just a few squid were jigged from Cockburn Sound.

Ascot Waters and Bayswater hold many bream but the legal size needs to be watched, many fish 20-26cm.
