We've added the Shimano Lucanus jigs on to the site here. We've had these for a few months but they've been moving pretty fast and it's been hard to keep stock in. This month we received a large shipment. Next month we have to put the price up due to a tough exchange rate, so now is a good time to get into them.

Here’s this weekend's Sunday Times fishing news, with a bit of extra stuff...

PERTH METROPOLITAN

Chidley Point is a good spot to try for chopper tailor, but you need to check for the 30cm size limit. Flathead fishing is promising around Matilda Bay and Jo Jo’s. Guildford is among better places to try for bream, with Fish Market Reserve and Sandy Beach hot spots. Jason Rushton and Allen Hunton had a great time with lures near Burswood, catching and releasing a number of bream.

Mike Edwards has being experimenting with a new Kanji Clicks squid jigs, catching and releasing Cockburn Sound squid, both light and dark colours performing well, especially just on dusk. Sand whiting provided an option for small boat users at the top of the Sound.

Most beaches are producing plenty of tailor. Quinns is amongst the best, early morning the time to be there. The North Mole has been yielding a few, along with most spots right up to Seabird. Marinas are working okay for tailor but the legal size needs to be watched. Offshore reefs are ideal for chasing smaller species with heaps of garfish, herring and skippy, some snook among bags from that territory.

Offshore action has included a hot day out for Dave Woolford and Mick Antonello, Woolford catching and releasing a samson fish guessed at 40kg+, the pair decking breaksea cod, baldchin groper, king george and jewfish, most fish released. The pair were working 36m deep water.

CERVANTES

Rohan Smith and Nick Bailey landed tailor to a kilo, bull herring and a small bronze shark during a lightening trip to Cervantes.

GERALDTON

Graeme Maunder reckons it’s the best tailor season for years, with quality fish from Nine Mile, most about 50-55cm, mulloway to 90cm about and many, many herring towards the northern end of the reef. Flatrocks, Clinchs, Duncans and all the way through to Lucys have been excellent for tailor, herring and some reasonable size whiting. Early mornings are better but the bite can continue through until mid-morning. S-Bend bags included some whopper mulloway, 16kg the biggest landed.
A couple of legal size jewfish were caught from shore at Flatrocks.

Closer to Geraldton, West Beach and Royces yielded good mulloway, many about 90cm with the odd fish to 15kg, tailor around 35-40cm, some quite large herring and  striped sea pike widespread. South Gates and Greenough Points were hot for pike but herring, chopper tailor and good whiting were caught there as well. Separation Point, Greys beach and the back of the Live Cray Factory turned up chopper tailor, herring and plenty of pike, lots of stingrays and small sharks.

Those craft able to venture to the Abrolhos Islands have had a ball catching pink snapper, plenty of 3-4kg pinkies around, the Southern Group doing best. Lots of mackerel and yellowfin tuna add to the action.

Near town crabbers did well, and the most action occurred in the hour just before high tide.

EXMOUTH

There'll be a new Exmouth-only newsletter on the site shortly. Last week's is here, with a nice GT caught and released for Aaron Lewis. Matt and Ben have gone barra fishing up Karratha way this weekend. Jeni's been blitzing it with plenty of billfish out from Exmouth in the last few days.
